Design Brief
Design intention is to reflect the company's philosophy and to integrate the aims at creating a corporate atmosphere both high-tech and in harmony with nature. Its solid form and steel external appearance are a gesture to the company's strength and core business, in a design inspired by the majestic imperial palaces of Ancient China. The symmetrical wings on either sides of the building enveloping the vast and open centre courtyard further emphasised the grandeur of the main entrance.
The Building
This building of approximately 250,000 sq.ft. is set within the grounds of the steel mill complex. The building comprises atrium lobby, office areas, computer labs, meeting rooms, conference room, multipurpose hall, and cafeteria with kitchen. The symmetrical wings on either sides of the building enveloping the vast and open central courtyard further emphasised the grandeur of the main entrance. These both wings accommodating office areas are linked by communal areas like services, circulation spaces and meeting rooms - creating a box-like central atrium lobby.
Exterior
- The overall building façade is designed as a high-tech fundamental form. The central arch-like façade is clad in corrugated aluminium, with glass wall and glass canopy at the centre which projects the main foyer as a focal point.
- The two wings' structures are wrapped with light-green tinted glass and silvery aluminium cladding.
- These elemental forms are enlivened by louvered sunshades - protecting the glazing as well as both vertical and horizontal C-channel-featured aluminium which enhances the overall steely look of the building.
- Attached with four exposed steel-structure staircases, these office block sits on a solid podium base of dark grey cobble stone and pebble-washed surface.

Interior
- With the double-volume glass canopy, the lobby creates an airy and bright atmosphere, emanating a welcoming and exciting impression. A huge stainless steel arch structure above the glass main door leads into the quartet volume of atrium. A full-size LED display is mounted across the length of the entrance and reception area. These spaces on the first level are linked by a column-free cable-suspended steel staircase up to the fourth floor.
